sard

The “sard” series was a product of a residency in the northern Campidano region of Sardinia, where I spent a month exploring the ruins of nuraghe sites. I cast paper forms and then layered textual fragments in the crevices. They are adorned with embroidered silk and gold thread, copper beads and obsidian. The texts are poems from the contemporary Sardinian writer Antonella Anedda. The title “sard” refers to the root of ancient word for the island (sardō in Latin and Sardōnia in Greek) and its inhabitants.
